October 26, 2004 Public Information Meeting

Chomonix Golf Course – Clubhouse
Lino Lakes, Minnesota

Meeting Summary and Summary of Public Comments

The first Public Information Meeting, as part of Phase II of the Anoka CSAH 14 (I-35W to I-35E) Study, was held on October 26, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Chomonix Golf Course in Lino Lakes.  The purpose of the meeting was to present the design layouts for public review and comment.  Representatives from Anoka County and SRF Consulting Group, Inc. were available to answer questions and make note of public comments and concerns.  A comment form was also provided at the meeting for the public to submit written questions or comments.

Those attending the Public Information Meeting included area residents, business owners, local government officials, agency officials, and other interested parties.  Forty five people placed their names on the sign-in sheet for the meeting, although it is estimated that total attendance was at least 65.

As part of the effort to inform area residents, business owners, and other interested parties, over 1,700 copies of a flier were mailed out two weeks prior to the meeting.  The flier included information about the study including the day, time and location of the Public Information Meeting.  At the meeting, extra copies of the flier, as well as the September 2004 project newsletter, were made available.

Summary of Written and Verbal Comments

The materials displayed at the Public Information Meeting were viewed intently by those in attendance and County staff members and SRF project team members received many comments and questions from meeting attendees.  The following themes were commonly addressed by both those who attended the public meeting and those who submitted written comments:

  • Right of way acquisition concerns (e.g., potential loss in property value, distance between proposed roadway and existing structures, and loss of vegetation)
  • Access changes to/from CSAH 14 (e.g., location of medians, safety of required u-turns and right in/right out preferences)
  • Drainage plans (e.g., proposed stormwater treatment pond locations)
  • Traffic control along CSAH 14 (e.g., speed and speed limit, and siting of stop signs and traffic signals)
  • Trail accommodations
